HTTP Error 500.21 – Internal Server Error

Error:

When trying to log into the Time & Expense portal reporting site, you receive the following error in the browser.

HTTP Error 500.21 - Internal Server Error
Handler "aspNetCore" has a bad module "AspNetCoreModule" in its module list

Cause:

Project Cost Web Suite requires Microsoft.NET 2.2 – Windows Server Hosting. When upgraded, Microsoft.NET Core 5.0.0 – Windows Server Hosting was installed.

Resolution:

  1. Uninstall Microsoft.NET, if it is a version higher than v2.2.x.
  2. Download and install latest version of .NET Core 2.2: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/2.2
  3. Log into Time & Expense portal.
