Error: "An error occurred with the pass-through SQL connection. Action: UserInRole() of form Rockton_Helpers"

Error:

The following error message is appearing when attempting to close the Auditor Group Maintenance window.

An error occurred with the pass-through SQL connection. Action: UserInRole() of form Rockton_Helpers

Information:

This issue has been recently documented as a software bug. The error messages are appearing for users who are in the AUDITOR ADMIN Security Role or the POWERUSER Security Role in Microsoft Dynamics GP, but they are NOT in the sysadmin or dbowner role in SQL Server Management Studio.

Workarounds:

Workaround 1:

Click click OK and bypass the messages if possible.

Note: The changes are still made as appropriate and your audits will still be tracked.   The user might need to End Task on Dynamics GP and relaunch.

Workaround 2:

Log into Dynamics GP as sa and make any changes in the Audit Group Maintenance window.

Note: If sa receives the error message also, try the following steps to resolve the error message:

1. Create a complete restorable backup.
2. Go to Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | Auditor | Auditor Setup.
3. In the Auditor Setup window, click the Troubleshooting tab.
4. Click Rebuild.
5. In the Auditor Rebuild window, mark the Rebuild SQL Tables Master checkbox.
6. Click Process.
