In 2015, Rockton introduced our annual 1% pledge, a commitment that ties our business success with giving back to our communities. The 1% pledge includes donating 1% of our team’s time, 1% of our company’s profits, and 1% of our product to selected causes.
We’re happy to share that in 2017, our team spent 138 hours volunteering for various causes close to their heart, including a mission trip to Haiti, Habitat for Humanity, and the Great Plains Food Bank to name a few.
Our monetary donation for 2017 was made to the Sister Carmen Community Center, an outstanding organization in located in Lafayette, Colorado. The Sister Carmen Community Center is a critical resource for individuals and families in need of supportive services such as food, clothing, heat and housing assistance. Their holistic and coordinated approach supports the entire family during a crisis.
To complete our 1% pledge, our team donated our SmartFill product to the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is the first-ever “translational” research hospital where clinicians, scientists, innovators and technologists work together in the same space, applying research real time to physical medicine and rehabilitation. We find the work that is done at the Ability Lab to be truly inspirational and want to support this cause best we can!
Now, in 2018, our team remains dedicated to our 1% pledge, and members plan to increase their volunteerism efforts even more! We’re even planning a whole team volunteer day to give back to our local community.
This trend of giving back via employees’ time in the business world is on the upswing and we couldn’t be happier to see that. If you and your team don’t already have this built in to your culture, we hope our pledge inspires to make those first steps towards giving back.
