Here at Rockton, we like to celebrate all things, big and small, that bring joy to our lives. We thought it would be fun to share our June celebrations with you and hopefully spread the joy around! Here are a few things the Rockton family celebrated this month.
Mike
I like July, but I think it’s more of a kid’s month. While we all grew up and need to work, for them, it’s the peak of summer break. Getting to spend all day outside, just enjoying life. Reminds me of this Calvin and Hobbes comic.
Besides that, I love that it’s full-on BBQ season. To me the smell of July has become BBQ and smokers. This year made a nice chicken, ribs and wings. Hoping to do a Pork Belly and maybe brisket soon!

July is always fun to celebrate. I love the nice summer days, sitting outside on the patio in the evenings, attending outside summer concerts and going to car shows. This month I’ve enjoyed a few family picnics beating the “boys” at cornhole, celebrating a few birthdays, and on the 4th of July, boating with family at the lake I went to as a child. It was nice sharing memories shared around the campfire with my brother and family. Good times!

I’m grateful for Minnesota summers which mean, specialty ice cream shops (honeycomb and goat cheese ice cream – sounds a bit strange but it was amazing!), trips to the North Shore, sunsets and outdoor music and 4th of July family time at the lake.

I love soaking up the beautiful summer weather in ND and MN! Some of my favorite days are spent at the lake with friends, enjoying the water, sunshine, and delicious food!

Most years we enjoy celebrating the 4th of July by spending the day up in Estes Park. They have an amazing fireworks show over the lake in the evening. The show is enhanced by the reflection of the fireworks on the water, plus the multiple booming echoes throughout the mountains! You have to get their early to claim your spot, so you may as well bring a nice canopy and plenty of food and drinks for all!

I celebrated my 4th of July with a day at the pool followed up by a firework show in Denver. I’m also midway through my rec league softball season, and we’re looking to go back-to-back as summer league champions next month!

For my family July is a month of joy and reflection. We kicked it off with a fun 4th of July celebration split between two cabins, with family and friends. We did lots of boating, fireworks, playing yard games and of course fishing! All three of my children turned into quite the fishermen over the weekend.
