How to create a new ODBC Data Source and then Set Database Location in Crystal Reports

The steps here describe an example of how to create a new ODBC Data Source and then Set Database Location in Crystal Reports.

Resolution:

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Open Crystal Reports.
2. Open an existing report or create a new one.
   1. Note: If you are updating an existing report, create a backup of it before modifying it in case there are any unwanted changes done.
3. In the Crystal Reports window, click Database | Set Database Location.
4. In the Set Datasource Location window, in the Replace with section, expand Create New Connection, and then click ODBC (RDO).
5. In the ODBC (RDO) window, for example, do the following:
   1. Select the Data Source Name.
   2. Click Next.
   3. For User ID, enter sa.
   4. For Password, enter sa’s Password.
   5. For Database, select the correct Database. In this example, I selected TWO.
   6. Click Finish.
6. In the Set Datasource Location window:
   1. In the Current Data Source section, select the current Datasource.
   2. In the Replace with section, select the new ODBC (RDO) Datasource you created.
   3. Click Update.
   4. Click Close.
