Issue:
How do I setup a Lookup on the Name field within the Customer Maintenance window using SmartFill?
Resolution:
SmartFill is designed to allow the user(s) to enter the customer’s name in the Customer ID field, not the Name field. The reason for this is because Dynamics GP needs to know what the Customer ID is.
Once a user enters the customer’s name in the Customer ID field, SmartFill will then bring up the Select Record window where the user can select the correct customer. Or, if there is only one match, SmartFill will automatically populate the fields for that one customer.
Note: A good rule of thumb for SmartFill lookup functionality is, if there is a looking glass next to a field on a window, then it is very likely that SmartFill can do a look up on that field.
